Q. What additional expenses will I have?

A. Fondikaro provides housing and meals in our Basic Package. In addition, menu-like expenses in our Extended Package can be housekeeping, laundry service, and special activities or special events. Other costs not included in the Basic or Extended Packages are specialty doctors, special medical equipment, medicines, and hygiene supplies.

Q. What documentation do I need to stay in the country?

A. A passport is required for legal entry to the country. Ecuador permits up to a 6-month stay with a Tourist Visa. Fondikaro is more than happy to help with legal assistance for a longer stay.

Q. How can we know if our loved one is safe in a pandemic situation?

A. Our “Small House” concept lowers the risk of getting a virus inside our community. Our bilingual staff follows strict hygienic rules and regulations. Unlike other large institutions, our “Small House” concept is manageable and able to better maintain a pathogen-free environment.   

Q. How far are you to the nearest airport?

A. Our Pifo and Puembo Ecuador locations are approximatly 15 to 20 minutes from Aeropuerto Internacional Mariscal Sucre (UOI – main airport in Quito Ecuador). Certainly, we offer free transfers from and to the airport to all our residents.

Q. Can I go and stay for a few days on-site to visit my loved one and see how he/she is doing?

A. Retiring Abroad needs to be planned out with the family structure. If there is space available you are welcome to stay under a per night fee. You can always contact us for more details.

Retiring Abroad – Trial

Q. Do you offer a trial period?

A. Certainly, we can arrange a trial period of 3 months if a residential unit is available at the time. If you are not completely satisfied you will not be held to the terms of your lease, and the community fee will be refunded.

Q. How will I know how our loved one is doing ?

A. We are blessed to have technology on our side. All our locations count with high-speed internet. Our residents can have access to video calls in a private setting that can be set up, if required, by our tech-savvy bilingual staff.
